How do I get Sól Pro?

Sól Pro adds fog prediction, tides, alerts and the Lining Up widget. In Sól, open Settings and tap Get Sól Pro, or tap anything marked PRO. It's a monthly or yearly subscription, billed through your Apple Account.

I subscribed on another iPhone. How do I get Pro back?

Sól Pro follows your Apple Account, so it usually turns on by itself. If it doesn't, open the Sól Pro screen (Settings → Get Sól Pro) and tap Restore Purchases.

How do I change or cancel my subscription?

In Sól, open Settings → Sól Pro → Manage Subscription. Or, in the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions → Sól. If Pro ends, your alert rules are kept, but alerts stop until you subscribe again.

Why didn't an alert arrive?
  • Notifications for Sól need to be on (Settings → Notifications → Sól), and so does Background App Refresh (Settings → General → Background App Refresh). The Alerts tab shows a warning when either is off.
  • Sól checks your alerts whenever you open it, and in the background: early in the morning, in the evening, and about every four hours. iOS decides exactly when background work runs, so some checks come later, and Low Power Mode pauses them.
  • If the forecast changes and the conditions no longer line up, Sól withdraws the alert. It stays in your inbox, crossed out as "No longer expected", and comes back if the match returns.
What do the fog chances mean?

Sól's fog chance is calibrated against real fog reports, so 30% means fog about three times in ten. Sól calls it Possible from 20%, a Fair chance from 30% and a High chance from 40%. Away from summits, even the most certain hours had fog only about half the time, which is why 40% already counts as high.

Where does the data come from?

Forecasts come from Apple Weather. Open-Meteo and Stormglass feed the fog model, tides come from WorldTides, and the terrain for the ridge and shadows comes from Mapbox. Tap the Apple Weather label on a forecast to see the sources in the app.

Which iPhones does Sól work on?

Any iPhone with iOS 18.5 or later, including iPhone Duo, where Sól spreads across both displays. The widgets are Next Light (Home Screen and Lock Screen), Tonight & Dawn, Light Week, Lining Up (with Pro) and, on iOS 27, the full-page Light Page.

What does Sól do with my data?

Sól has no accounts and no ads, and keeps your spots and alerts on your iPhone. To show forecasts it sends the coordinates of your spots to the services that provide them. The privacy policy has the details.
